Render Exterior Wall Coatings systems vary dependent on wall substrate. Unpainted surfaces require more attention to detail then perhaps an already painted surface. Painted surfaces need to be cleaned down thoroughly in order for the render application to adhere. Then the wall will either have to be scarred for traditional renders or a nylon mesh to be fitted to provide a key for the render application. Regardless of the wall surface, Render Exterior Wall Coatings have the answer to all wall surface problems. Render Exterior Wall Coatings hand applied trowel and roll system is mainly a textured finish, although our K rend system can provide a flat finish once applied, our spray products give maximum coverage with regard to obliterate scarring from heavily repaired areas. However for badly scarred and extremely poor and hollow render surfaces our heavy duty rendering coats are required, after the removal of all existing surfaces back to wall substrate.
Stages for trowel roll and monocouche rendering systems.
- Remove all existing hollow/porous surfaces from the property, using hand tools or plant kanga hammer equipment, dependent on how solid the wall surface is (if the surface is strong and not hollow, the GRC render can be applied over the wall surface).
- Please Note: our reinforced fibre glass render can be trowled applied over a painted surface between 8-10mm, providing the walls have been cleaned i.e. powerwashed, bio-cleaned and fungi treatment has been applied.
- We then mask all doors windows, fascias, soffitts boards; protect patios, shrubs, plants and other items where necessary.
- Scaffolding will be required for Monocouche applications but not necessary for GRC Render High Performance Backing Coat. Ladders can be used in circumstances.
- Cleaning down the wall substrate, either by wire brushing and power washing between 1500 – 2000 PSI. Bio – wash, fungi clean removal of algae or any contaminates on the wall surfaces.
- Trowel applied, either 2 or 3 coats of reinforced armoured fibres render to wall elevations are necessary. Trowel or roller apply top coat textured coating with chosen colour required. The Monocouche render top coat is trowel applied and is a self coloured render system representing the final top coat, can be either a flat, textured, acrylic or silicon finishes.
- Skips are required to remove the waste and rubble.
- Remove the masking paper and tape, clean the site and make clean and tidy as found originally.
Stages of Spray treatment:
- Hammer test existing wall surface to the elevations to be treated.
- Remove any hollow render areas where necessary.
- Heavy pressure power wash required, between 1500 – 2000 PSI to clean down the surface from algae and contaminates. Bio-wash, fungi clean required where necessary.
- Mask all doors, fascias, so fit boards, guttering to protect from high powered spray application 75 PSI. Protect patio areas and plants where required.
- Undertake all remedial repair work to the wall surfaces. Repairs to the walls are carried out to match existing wall surfaces to a uniform finish. Note: It is important to have a texture grade finish when repairs are completed, to obliterate any scars on the wall surfaces. A smooth finish will show imperfections to the wall surface, as scars will be imminent and obviously seen.
- The final top spray coat is applied using a Greco President spray unit together with a compressor unit.
- Remove masking paper and tape from windows, doors etc and makes the site neat and tidy as found.
- A small skip may be required to remove any wall waste.
- Note: Scaffolding may be required where areas are difficult to gain access to. Example; around conservatory or gable end walls.
